Terms of Service
Last update: July 1, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a legal agreement between you and PDF Bean (“we”, “us”), operator of the PDF Bean website and PDF tools (the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Who we are and accepting these Terms
PDF Bean provides online tools to merge, split, convert, and transform PDF and image files. Using the Service — whether or not you sign in — means you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are authorized to bind that organization.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The Service is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use it.
The Service
PDF Bean tools upload your file over an encrypted connection to be processed on our servers and returned to you. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. The Service is provided from the United States and we make no promise that it is appropriate or available in other locations.
Your account
You can run most tools without signing in; downloading your finished file requires signing in and an active plan. If you sign in, you do so with a one-time email link or with Google — we never ask for or store a password. You are responsible for keeping access to your email or Google account secure and for activity that happens under your account.
Subscriptions, billing, and trials
Some features require a paid subscription (monthly or annual). Payments are handled by our payment processor, Stripe; PDF Bean never sees or stores your full card number.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime from your Account settings. Cancellation stops the next renewal; your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- If your plan includes a trial, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel before it ends. Any introductory trial price applies only to the trial period.
- If a payment fails, we may retry it and may suspend paid features until it succeeds.
Your files and content
You keep all rights to the files you upload. You grant us only the limited permission needed to process your files and return the result to you — nothing more. We do not sell your files, and we do not use them to train artificial-intelligence models.
Files you process are transferred over an encrypted connection and stored privately. We keep them so you can download your results and find them again under “My documents”; you can delete any file yourself at any time, or ask us to delete it. You are responsible for keeping your own copies.
You confirm that you own or have the right to use every file you upload, and that your files and your use of the Service do not break the law or infringe anyone’s rights.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- upload or process content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you have no right to use;
- scrape, overload, or abuse the Service, or access it through automated means beyond ordinary manual use;
- reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service, or use it to build a competing product or an AI training dataset;
- upload malware, or try to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users, or our systems;
- use the Service to create content intended to deceive, defraud, or impersonate.
Our intellectual property and your feedback
The Service, the PDF Bean name and logo, and all software and content we provide are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you only a personal, non-exclusive, revocable right to use the Service. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them freely without any obligation to you.
Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties (for example, Stripe for payments and our hosting and storage providers). Your use of those features may also be subject to the third party’s terms. We are not responsible for third-party services.
Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results will meet your requirements. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PDF Bean will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and these Terms do not affect any non-waivable statutory rights you have as a consumer.
Indemnification
You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms.
Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms or use the Service in a way that could harm us, other users, or third parties. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You and PDF Bean agree that any dispute will be brought only on an individual basis and not as part of a class or collective action. Subject to any non-waivable rights you have, the state and federal courts located in New Jersey will have jurisdiction over disputes that are not otherwise resolved.
Changes to these Terms and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, and the “last update” date above will change. Continuing to use the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms. Questions? Email contact@pdfbean.com.
