The output is a fully editable Word document, but layout-heavy PDFs may require minor cleanup. Fonts and absolute positions are preserved where possible; columns, complex tables, and decorative elements are reconstructed from the PDF's positional data, so they may shift slightly. For text-first PDFs (reports, articles, contracts) the result is usually clean enough to edit immediately.
.docx is the modern format used by Word 2007 and newer — smaller files, better compatibility with Google Docs and other modern editors. .doc is the legacy format for Word 97–2003. Pick .docx unless you specifically need to open the file in an older copy of Word.
Not yet. Our converter works from the text already embedded in the PDF. If your PDF is a scanned image (no selectable text), the output will be empty or contain only image placeholders. OCR support — extracting text from scanned PDFs — is on our roadmap but isn't live today.
